A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
E-Newsletter | July 2025 Hello INACAC Members At our recent Fall Membership Meeting, the proposed amendments to the bylaws of the Indiana Association for College Admission Counseling (INACAC) were presented and discussed. I am pleased to report the amendments were passed unanimously by the membership. In accordance with our governance procedures, the newly amended bylaws therefore go into effect immediately. Attached to this email you will find the final, approved version of the bylaws for your reference. We encourage all members to review the document so you are familiar with the revised structure and provisions. If you have any questions or would like clarification about any part of the amendments, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Chair of the Credentials Committee, Kathi Ferrero, or any member of the Executive Board. Thank you for your continued engagement and commitment to INACAC. Sincerely, Karen Bush E-Newsletter | September 2022 Greetings INACAC Members! I was honored to begin my term as President of the Indiana Association of College Admissions Counseling in July, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve this incredible organization. When I re-entered the field of admissions in 2007 and asked how to become more involved, immediately my supervisor and continued mentor Aimee Scheuermann said, get involved in INACAC. I began my service on the Inclusion Access and Success Committee, continued as a Delegate and Chair of the Credentials committee, and now have an opportunity to lead an organization that has given so much to me. Today, I am fortunate to learn from the Presidents who came before me, and I look forward to leading alongside our immediate past-president, Catie Taylor, and president-elect, Ange Huffman, in partnership with our Executive board members. I hope you were able to recharge over the summer and are ready to take on the challenges and opportunities that we will face this school year. Your INACAC Cabinet, Executive Board, and committee members were busy working to plan college fairs, counselor update programs, and preparing for the next ICON cohort. In addition, the Professional Development Committee, in partnership with Vincennes University, hosted our largest ever Summer Institute ensuring that 44 new admissions professionals were ready to provide college access to students this school year. I am truly grateful for the time and talent given by several of you; your commitment to INACAC and college admissions counseling is commendable. In addition, your presidential team, Catie, Ange and I, attended LEAD (Leadership Engagement and Development) training as your APC (Affiliates Presidents Council) delegation from Indiana. We were trained on strategic planning, board governance, and engaged in discussions about the future of the delegate role and NACAC. We advocated on your behalf to the NACAC CEO, leadership team, and board chair to ensure we are well positioned to provide access to post-secondary options in our state. Thanks for allowing us to represent you on the national level. Connect. Educate. Involve. Over this next year, I would like our membership to find ways to advocate for the value of higher education and the importance of building and maintaining connections, obtaining education, and getting involved. As admissions counseling professionals we know what it takes to obtain a post-secondary degree and our charge is to connect with students and our community to advocate for the transformative value of education. We must continue to educate ourselves through professional development and continue providing access to education for our students. We are here to work alongside and support you and ensure that INACAC members are the primary source of information about access to postsecondary education. I look forward to engaging with you over the next year, and this is your invitation to get involved in one of INACAC committees. Your voice is important, and we want it represented in our planning and program development. If you have ideas, suggestions, or questions, don’t hesitate to contact me at iacacpresident@gmail.com. Yours in service, Dr. Tara S. This semester, like the past year plus that we have experienced, has been challenging. Even though times have been tough, we have made it through by working together. I am so proud to work with and lead such a great group of professionals that can come together for the greatest benefit of each other and the students that we represent. We have accomplished a great deal this semester as an organization:
This is by far not a complete list of the work that our organization has done. To elaborate on one of the points above concerning our Annual INACAC Conference, this is a wonderful professional development opportunity. Catie Taylor INACAC President Senior Associate Director of Admission University of Evansville ct37@evansville.edu E-Newsletter | July 31, 2021 Hello INACAC, I would like to introduce myself as your 2021-2022 Indiana Association for College Admission Counseling President. I am so honored to serve in this role and help lead INACAC over this next year alongside a dedicated and committed Executive Board. I hope you are having a good summer and hopefully taking some time to refresh and recharge after this past year. We all have had to navigate a wide array of challenges and I am so thankful to have such a strong group of professionals within INACAC that can help move us into the next chapter. With plans to host in-person college fairs and our annual Conference, I am hopeful that we are moving in the right direction and getting back on track. With so many of our members and students struggling this past year both personally and professionally, I want to focus on ways to support the overall well being of our members and of INACAC as a whole. We have to make sure that our members have the support they need so they can properly work with and serve our students. We will be offering a series of webinars focused on assisting with the support of members as well as opening the access channels for you to let us know how we can help. INACAC has already started looking at ways to bring members closer together and provide training to new as well as long-term members. The Professional Development Committee has welcomed a great group of professionals to the New Counselor Institute, ICON has graduated a cohort this past year and will be starting a new cohort this fall, several of our INACAC members were selected to serve on the new NACAC Ad Hoc Committees that were formed, and the Governmental Relations Committee has been working with legislators on how to improve conditions within our schools. This is just a few items that INACAC members are working on. We know there is so much more that is being accomplished within our affiliate and are proud of everything our members are accomplishing. We are continuously looking for ways to improve INACAC and the experiences for our members. I ask that you contact me (ct37@evansville.edu) at any time you have ideas or suggestions that would enhance your experience. Our Executive Board meets several times throughout the year and would be happy to discuss and work on the ideas that are brought to us. I am excited for the year ahead and look forward to working with you and serving as your INACAC President! Thank you for all you do for your students, offices, and INACAC. Your dedication and passion are what makes our organization so strong. Have a great start to your year, Catie Taylor INACAC President Senior Associate Director of Admission University of Evansville ct37@evansville.edu | COMMITTEE UPDATES
